When the time comes to replace the slings it can be costly. You may have a couple hundred chairs around your pool and no money in the budget. You may be scratching your head because you just bought these a few years ago.
Quality patio furniture is designed to have the slings replaced to extend its usable life. Refinishing is another option to revive your outdoor furniture. Our refinishing processes create lasting high-quality results for our clients. Customized packages may include: design consultation services to ensure the powder coating selected meets your needs for functionality and visual appeal; sandblasting to clear away old finish, rust, and other substances for a smooth surface; a seamless coat of primer to extend the life of your furniture; application of your chosen finish from our substantial catalog of colors and textures; and curing at the precise temperature needed to ensure your new finish will stand the test of time. With over 40 years’ experience in powder coating, we have mastered the art of renewing metal products.
Most often, the frame’s finish will outlast the lifespan of the original fabric, so that reslinging will extend the usability and good appearance of the furniture for many years. In most cases, the cost of replacing slings is 50%-70% less than the cost of buying new furniture.
We are a full service, one-stop shop for high-end outdoor furniture replacement slings. Since fabrics and dimensions vary, slings are made to fit each piece individually. The first thing we do when we receive your furniture is to measure each piece. At first appearance, your furniture may appear to be of identical dimensions, and most of the time that is true. There are important exceptions. Depending on how the sling rails are bolted to the frame, where the stretcher bars are located, and where bracing is not present, slings have a better fit when certain areas are sewn in more tightly. This is common in the bend between the seat and the back, as well as in the mid- to upper- back area. Some fabrics will pucker if they are not stretched firmly enough. Fabrics tend to sag quickly if they are not sewn tightly enough. There is great advantage in having the furniture available in our shop for every stage of the process, to ensure a firm, trim fit.
Warranty
Fabric comes with a 1 year warranty from the manufacturer. This is an industry standard even when purchasing new furniture. We offer an additional 2 year warranty. If the slings fade significantly and do not hold up, we will make it right.
We cover two other critical areas that often go unnoticed. In the event the stitching fails and the sling pulls out of the channel, or if at any time the stitching breaks down and causes the sling to sag significantly, we will repair or replace at no charge for the first 5 years.
Coastal Patio Signature Workmanship
We double stitch all slings. This means there are two parallel stitches on all sides. If, for any reason, one of the stitches fails, the stitch next to it will hold the sling in place. Most manufacturers single stitch. Also, as the slings age and stretch out, the weakest area is often at the edge of the seat: it can start to pull away from the stitching. When it is double stitched, the second stitch helps hold the sling in place.
In the industry, there are many different types of sling material, but their durability varies considerably. Sometimes in a commercial setting, the fabric that came with the furniture is not the best fabric for your application. We have seen fabrics that are commercial-grade that we would not even recommend to a homeowner. These include fabrics with metallic yarns that tend to discolor quickly in the sun, and some vinyl fabrics that are very thin and tend to tear along the seam before the fabric is worn out. From our experience, fabrics made of olefin blends do not hold up as well in the sun either. Also, fabrics made of acrylic blends do not bear weight as well over time and tend to stretch out and sag sooner than vinyl and pvc fabrics. We use fabrics that are 100% vinyl or pvc.
